Selecting health benefits at my new job. Every single thing about this process is awful. (Because I live in the USA.)
The web site's UI and UX are nightmares. Having to understand and look up various arcane insurance terms is ridiculous. The amount of money I'm going to be paying will be obscene, and then I'll have to pay *more* every time I get anything medical done.
And the idea of having to pay for all of this at all is disgusting.
All my life, people¹ have been warning me about the horrors of socialized medicine. Well, I've heard from people in other countries, and it sounds *absolutely wonderful* compared to this hellscape.
Non-USians, if you have socialized medicine, public health care, or anything like that, *fight tooth and nail to keep it*. Vote any politician who even suggests getting rid of it out of office so fast their head spins.
