I just switched from Pixel 5 to 9 Pro and, yes it's faster, but I put a fresh battery in the 5 a few weeks ago and it also has slightly better battery life than the 9.😀

cmmdmx@nixCraft I've read (but not sure if it's true) that there is a EU regulation that makes it complicated / expensive to import/sell phones with more than 6000mAh of batteries. That's why that is currently the cap for a lot of asian manufactures. Some even put different batteries in phones in asia than for europe.

Cliff'sEsportCorner@TomSeppert @nixCraft I still miss many features of Blackberry phones: optical trackpad(!), KB, smaller footprint, solid dock, & calendar app(!!). Still have BB Bold docked on my desk for Clock though not connected to net.
My Actual Brain@nixCraft let me dock my phone and have a full desktop mode that does not have a locked down OS.
Steamdeck can do it, so I’m sure the latest flagships can handle it.

I cannot think of a useful feature added to phones in the last 10 years except maybe fingerprint unlock
We don't need AI, huge camera warts, folding screens, voice assistants, everything in the cloud, multiple versions of the same app and certainly not ads and trackers built in to everything
We are at a point of fighting with our tech just to make it somewhat more usable

@nixCraft shhh, don't scare them away from flip phones. It's the only way someone makes a phone with a human sized screen (using the new note flip or razr with the screen closed).
I do wish I had a slide out keyboard instead of a weird bendy screen. But I'll take what I can get!
