Mima-sama@hopefulhumanizer "Semitic people" or "semitic race" was a racist conception developed by so-called "race scientists" (you know, the same people who made up the "yellow race" for us Asians) who were looking to "scientifically" validate white supremacy, maliciously borrowing from the linguistics world where it's used legitimately to categorize languages. People and languages are not the same.
Antisemitism has always meant Jew hatred, and that was what the German journalist who coined the word in the 19th century intended it for when he wanted to make his bigotry look more "intellectual". Trying to dilute what antisemitism means (and therefore effectively downplay it) is a form of Jewish erasure.
