Patagonia Image 4

This image brings back quite emotive memories for me & conveys the full emptiness that is the Southern Patagonian Icecap.

Life here is very simple, arrive at camp, build snow walls, eat, drink & sleep. Sometimes we have sheltered for days in blizzard conditions. You can't afford a mistake, being 3+ days from human settlements.

Snow walls ... & who'd have thought there's so many technicalities in their construction?

@elperronegro can't even imagine being away as far as 3 days to settlements. Sort of scary but also liberating.
@bergmeister that's totally correct Sander. Scary and humbling but in an exciting sort of way
@elperronegro This really extremaly!
@wthinker @elperronegro we had such snow at cottage almost every winter. we didn't build snow walls, but we went there some times during winter to clean the snow off the roof to avoid breaking the roof under the snow mass. 2-3 meters of snow is ok over here. outside the city it's not anything rare. we sometimes have snow 5-6 months a year.
