Turns out the renewed licence to use #glyphosate in Dutch agriculture was in part based on input from a scientist who previously supported the asbestos, lead, and diesel industries. And who was paid a few hundred thousand dollars to support Bayer in Australian court cases.

Journalist calls Crump again: "OK, I didn't tell you the truth. I got $500 per hour to support Bayer in court; a few hundred thousand in total."

@Sustainable2050 well, a bit of literature research on authors of papers you want to include would immediately have shown this dude as suspicious. If you want to avoid conflicts of interest then a clear guideline on which studies to in/exclude would be good. Seems CTGB wasn’t all that concerned really. “gaaf land!”

@Sustainable2050 The source for this news is #zembla an activist Dutch tv programme that has posted several times disinformation now on purpose (e.g. on transgender issues) that does not match with journalist values.

This #glyphosate news as well is probably misleading. Another journalist, Maarten Keulemans (Volkskrant), reveals how he was asked to be interviewed for this 'documentary' as well:

@yamuis @Sustainable2050 Is dit getrol ofzo, of begrijp ik het verkeerd? Keulemans is wel degelijk een goede, zeer ervaren en zelfs bekroonde wetenschapsjournalist. Vooral zijn werk tijdens corona was erg zorgvuldig en belangrijk. https://nos.nl/l/2414866
