I visited the tomato souped painting a few days after and it was fine.

I’m still reeling over the 20- and 24-month long sentences that the activists got.

@davidho We can support them via Just Stop Oil / Climate Action Support Pathway https://chuffed.org/project/support-resistance-in-the-courts Today: £10,457
Raised of £100,000 goal. “Judge Hehir just sent Anna and Phoebe to prison for a combined total of just under 4 years, for throwing tomato soup at at Van Gogh’s Sunflowers, protected by glass, back in 2022. Since then, the UK Government has approved over 80 new oil and gas projects – a crime against humanity.”

Care-workers, teachers, students, grandparents and now doctors. The British state is unmasking itself in its repression of ordinary people telling truth to power. Dr Patrick Hart has been sentenced to 1 year in prison for taking part in direct action in 2022. He joins 19 others inside.

@ronzegers @davidho

"Protected by glass" .... So for slightly more than the cost of the cans of soup, it was restored... ?

@davidho you didn’t eat the banana though
@davidho there’s going to be a tipping point where draconian sentences for the simplest, non-violent protest pushes people into a new protest level. “If I’m going down for years for throwing soup then I might as go down for bombing an oil refinery”.

Previously, at EINN:

"On September 5, 2002, Eoin Dubsky painted No Way on a US warplane (for which he was fined); and on January 29, 2003, Mary Kelly took an axe onto the runway and hit a military plane, causing US$1.5 million in damage; she was also fined."

"A few weeks later, on February 3, a group of five activists attacked a US Navy C-40 aircraft (the same one that Kelly had previously damaged) with hammers and a pickaxe."

Ireland: The fight to end US military use of Shannon Airport

In the face of police persecution, activists have been fighting for years to end the US military’s use of Shannon Airport, writes Vijay Prashad.

@awfulwoman @davidho you will get a similar amount of time for dealing heroin, and could at least make money in the meantime until you get caught (and this is exactly what happened in 1980s when Thatcho similarly clamped down on protest)

@davidho

And there's a problem with overcrowded prisons....

@davidho I hear Heinz are due to release a sunflower soup soon
