And I'm back in Aus! This all feels quite surreal, but I'm so glad to be back with my boyfriend and cat ❤️
@rfernandez Wow, your cat is quite the fluffy beauty!
@rfernandez congrats on making it across almost the entire world!
@rfernandez out of curiosity, how was getting the cat across? did they need to stay in quarantine for 2 weeks?
@dotstdy yeah, that was quite involved. And the reason my boyfriend and I spent 8 months living apart :(
Yuki had her vaccines in January, then formal id check by a Dutch government vet, then a rabies blood test in February. Then you have to wait 6 months after the test before Australia will allow a pet into the country. And then yeah, in August she flew to Aus and then spent 10 days in quarantine.

@rfernandez Totally missed you went back (due to being in Brazil and new job).

Sorry to see you leave the Netherlands, but happy you are back with your loved ones. ❤️

Still with Nixxes though?

@asmodai yeah, still with Nixxes. I'm their first ever remote employee! A bit of an experiment, but I want it to go well, I love working for Nixxes.

@rfernandez That sounds great! Glad you get to try that and hope it goes how you want.

My new company is spread over 10 different geographical offices, and for now within 1-2 hours timezone difference. The most important aspect, I think, to keep the connections, is just reaching out to people, not just about the job, but also for some idle chit chat at times. Can be as short as 5-10 minutes.

It helps if the company already has a culture of sharing a lot of information on e.g. Slack or similar.

@asmodai yeah, I'm going to have to make an effort to do that. After working together in the Netherlands with my colleagues for 6.5 years, we are very close, so it is at least easy to reach out to others, since the relationships are there already. This would be hard to do if you were totally new and the company wasn't used to remote workers though.
