Not going to comment on the US-specifics of #vehicularcycling . Though I sometimes also wonder if there's something lost by an overly reductionist view from cycling advocacy on infrastructure.

There are many things I'm missing in discussion:
1) There are countries (or regions) with far worse cycling infrastructure where I feel far safer, just by motorists being not nearly as aggressive.
2) The increasing danger through motorists I'm observing here in Germany/Berlin won't ever be solved by protected bike lanes. I notice dangerous situations even in small residential streets. Also we're discussing needing protection with concrete / steel.
But even this won't help if motorists just ignore red lights at intersections.
3) What we actually need is enforcement of current rules. Illegal parking, speeding, close passes and red light violations. And also stricter regulations for things like vehicle size. Exactly the things one would naturally consider when accepting that sometimes motorists and cyclists have to share some space. #vehicularcycling
@odoruhako I make similar observations – observing the start of this shift towards “egobubble driving” around 2015 deepened my expectation that Trump/AfD are representing a deeper Zeitgeist and will be very successful.
