Do you prefer read, or composed, or see your own typefaces: justified or left aligned in a body text?
@SandrineNugue Left-aligned + hyphenated has the nicest color in my opinion. Without hyphenation, it can look a little unruly, though.
@db Thank you for your advice. I was sure to receive this answer but I asked :)
@SandrineNugue Left-aligned, especially when it’s my own typeface. Otherwise I’m always wondering: “Is that spacing abnormality coming from my font or from the justification settings?”
@nicksherman @kai Thank you for answering! Everytime I left-aligned the text but for a new edition I could be seduced by the white space around the text block, something not possible with left-aligned. I guess with justified text, the settings have to be very good. It is for a collection so I have to assume the final choice ^^
@SandrineNugue @nicksherman in either case the settings have to be very good, and even in series I go over every page manually still. I find that with the settings being as good as I can manage, justified can achieve better results without corrections (YMMV), so it also depends if you typeset the whole series always and have the opportunity for manual interventions.
@nicksherman @kai Final & easiest choice: left-aligned! Thank you for your tips and advices.
@nicksherman @kai It is typography vs layout, or typedesigner vs graphic designer.
@SandrineNugue left-aligned always. I’m really picky about justified text.
