Hmmm. Is this new Berlin-Paris service really going to stop anywhere between Berlin and Frankfurt (Main)? And then will serve Frankfurt Süd and not Hbf? And no stop in Mannheim? Or have they just not finalised the stops yet? #CrossBorderRail 🤔 https://www.deutschebahn.com/de/presse/pressestart_zentrales_uebersicht/Erstmals-mit-dem-ICE-von-Berlin-nach-Paris-neue-Direktverbindung-vorgestellt-13084996
Erstmals mit dem ICE von Berlin nach Paris: neue Direktverbindung vorgestellt

@jon Looks like it. Apparently, it will take the slot of this ICE which is also going nonstop from Berlin to Frankfurt (via Hannover).

@jon Another one of these reintroduced "Sprinter" ICEs going nonstop from Berlin to Frankfurt will be prolonged to Saarbrücken, but not Paris.

@ummels @jon Replacing Hannover would mean making things worse, as far as I'm concerned. Stopping in Frankfurt is useless, while Hannover helps those of us coming from the North. (But if it's the #ICE1039, it's already not stopping in Hannover.)

Following the route of the existing #ICE950 + #EST9474 would have been wonderful! (Is it too difficult to go through Belgium? More difficult than juggling traffic jams in Frankfurt?)

Also, "high-speed rail" at an average speed of some 130 km/h?

@nemobis @jon DB and SNCF only cooperate on the routes via Strasbourg and Saarbrücken, so it was always clear that this train would not go via Belgium.
@nemobis @jon As the current ICE 1039, the train will take a freight line through Hannover, so will not pass the main station.
@ummels Ok but that's my point. Eurostar is now owned by SNCF, such distinctions must be superseded.
@nemobis Yeah, would be great if DB and Eurostar would enter cooperation between Germany and Belgium. Just not happening, I'm afraid.
