I can't believe that #GreenDay's #AmericanIdiot is twenty years old. This album was such an influence on my teenage years, and I think probably one of the first "real" albums I listened to of my own volition. It along with 21st Century Breakdown would have to have some of the best audio production I've heard on a record.

I'll be seeing them play through American Idiot as well as #Dookie in their entirety in Sydney next March, and I'm oh so excited for it.

@bobdendry wasn't my favourite album or anything but I remember having a sudden explosion of interest in music around the age of 15 and this would have played a part in that.

*The* album for me was By The Way by the #RedHotChiliPeppers. That thing took over my life in a weird way and set my musical tastes for a solid ten years.

@danielholt Stadium Arcadium was a bit like that for me. #RedHotChiliPeppers

@bobdendry So very much this. If I were to look back on my teenage years and picked an album that defines that period of time in my life, it would be American Idiot. I used to play it at least once a day for as long as I can remember.

I was lucky enough to see them at Wembley Stadium this year where they played both American Idiot and Dookie albums and it was so fucking good. It’s a while for you to wait but it’s definitely worth it and I hope you’ll enjoy it.

@EighthLayer I totally forgot to mention that the first time I saw them (during the 21st Century Breakdown tour), I got to go up on stage and sing a bit of Know Your Enemy! Highlight of the decade for me heh.

@bobdendry Holy shit wow. That is so awesome! I also saw that tour in 2009 which was last time I had seen them before Wembley.

Unfortunately I wasn’t able to see them in 2005 when they were in my home town at the Milton Keynes National Bowl. That was there biggest ever gig at the time and where Bullet in a Bible live album was recorded. I remember leaning out of my window and listening to it from a distance.

@EighthLayer
My parents got so tired of me watching that DVD haha

@bobdendry 20 years? Nah, it was just like a few months ago, my guy. I’m sure of it.

Also the people talking about this album coming out in their formative teenage years are making me feel old. I’m just gonna assume that they mean Dookie.

Obviously.

@DoubleAA
It's alright, we're here to keep you younger ;)
