So, what's scary about #Israeli #Malware #Pager attack stuff is that ANY device with a #LithiumBattery could potentially be set to explode by malware. Not on the scale perhaps as those with explosive devices, but Lithium batteries themselves are potentially explosive devices. Israel has just opened up a whole NEW can of worms that I'm sure everyone is going to copy now. YIKES!

In _Fateful Triangle_ Chomsky wrote that plane hijackings were also an Israeli innovation.. along with taking hostages to exchange for prisoners... State militaries are very innovative when they have a free hand to terrorize dehumanized populations, I guess...

I guess it's a good idea to keep the devices out of your pocket. Now we need metal boxes for lithium-powered devices? Need the audio jacks back too, can listen to the devices from a couple meters away without near batteries

@bsmall2 Great suggestions! And know where your phone is at night (and turn it off?). And keep a portable fire extinguisher on hand as well. Water isn't good for lithium fires.

@DoomsdaysCW I didn't know about lithium fires and water. So that's why the Post office wouldn't let me send an old, used Sony ebook reader to my brother's family in the States. I guess, just a general safety measure this adds to the motivation to clear out all laptops and cellphones that can accumulate and be forgotten.

@DoomsdaysCW I am so worried about the slippery slope of this thing. How long will it be before prolific Palestinian sympathizers have their devices explode? Sure, it sounds far-fetched but so did blowing up people's pagers until this week.
