Very author-centered, Springer Nature, great #PublisherValueAdd

(note the URL that is getting a 404 error because Springer Nature has moved the info without bothering to put a redirect)

I thought publishers were supposed to be good at surfacing information and helping users navigate websites

FTR the new correct link is:

https://www.springernature.com/gp/open-science/policies/journal-policies

instead of
https://www.springer.com/gp/open-access/publication-policies/self-archiving-policy

That is, open-SCIENCE instead of open-ACCESS

This is what redirects were made for if you ask me.

Journal policies | Open science | Springer Nature

Find out about Springer Nature’s open access (OA) policies for journal articles published via the immediate (gold) OA and subscription routes. Our publication policies help our authors achieve a high level of openness with their research and support them in meeting the open access (OA) requirements of their research funders and institutions.

It gets better

I was talking with the first author, and -- the email from the publisher that she got when the paper was published? It had the same link. The same BROKEN link.

IDK how much my institution pays Springer Nature for access to the subscription papers and the 15% APC discount, but I think we should get a little rebate every time an author or employee from my institution gets a 404 error on the Springer Nature website after clicking on a link elsewhere on their own site
@kdnyhan Good heavens - yes, something. $10 Grubhub gift card per 404 thrown at least.
