“Being a woman in tech is insane. We do not work in the same moral system model as most of the people that we interact with daily and we can’t talk about it, because when we do, we are the ones portrayed as crazy or hysterical.” —Irene Y. Zhang (https://discuss.systems/@irene)

@Meyerweb Sadly. I witnessed this go down in realtime: https://www.sfchronicle.com/opinion/article/jonathan-shewchuk-berkeley-professor-19371464.php

He's still tenured btw

@hucksternoise @Meyerweb yikes, I missed this at the time. Almost a year later, the UW sexual harassment issues have been resolved in the most predictable way possible.

Newsflash: It’s not just tech. Women are in this position in many fields. I experienced this in the Design and Construction field. Beyond horrible to the point where if you tell folks what is happening and how people are behaving it sounds so crazy they think it can’t be true. So demoralizing! #metoo #patriarchy #misogyny
