Artist Chelo depicts what we see - and what we don't see - on social media. I like the full-circle nature of this comic.

Another comic by Chelo caught my eye. How we present ourselves to others on social media vs offline. #art /2
@Sheril there is a sadness in there that hurts.

@Sheril I’m guilty of this at times… the reason I got into open social media was to find spaces to break that habit.

Enjoy the skin you’re in and celebrate the life you have if you can. Bring attention to positives and also point out the negatives.

But most of all, log out and touch grass as much as you can.

@Sheril
Brilliant in its simplicity and insight
@Sheril So that everyone is included in the meaning here, a detailed #alt4you description, part 1 of 2:
Four-row comic, each row with a panel showing what's displayed on a phone in hand on the left, and on the right, a panel showing the person holding it.
@Sheril #alt4you part 2 of 2:
Marta has posted a happy photo of herself with her boyfriend; a different man cries, the heart tattoo on his muscular arm reads "Marta."
The muscular man flexes in a selfie; a chubby man self-consciously pinches his belly.
The chubby man beams smiling over a lobster and wine dinner; a thin man eats from a small can as his spotted dog looks on.
The spotted dog being pet; Marta and her boyfriend grieve, a candle lit by a photo of their own deceased dog by their couch.
@Sheril
As my day has been going,
Thank you for this.
@Sheril That is why you should put a CW on everything!
@Sheril Magnificent. Thank you for sharing.

Linkin Park: The Emptiness Machine
...
Gave up who I am for what you wanted me to be
...

Don't try to imitate someone else in the naive hope you'd be happy then.

@Sheril Is this a modern version of Schnitzler's Reigen?
That's touching and tragic, but I complain about my life on social media all the time. And there's a lot of good things that people would really envy, that I just can't be assed to photograph. Not that I'm lying or anything, but it's complicated. Why would I try to make it look like there's no problem here?

Look, it's my wild garden! With a tomato! Nothing wrong here!! Whoever does that, I get that they're insecure and desperate to cling to optimism, but this comic shows how hurtful that can be. So please stop. I want to see the can.

@Sheril

I mean... I'll take the heartache of losing a dog but having a spouse and not being hungry over the others... IDK.

The thing I'm most jealous of that I see on social media are:

1. the cool things people make that I wish I could make
2. the neat projects people are working on I wish I could working on

Mostly the best cure is to just tell them. That's so cool I wish I could do that wow!

Somehow that makes me feel better.

@Sheril ah, this took me a couple of views but I get it now. It didn’t occur to me that the party on the right is the same party as the party on left in the next row.
@Sheril
Conectamos mucho con la octava.

@Sheril In daily life, there is plenty of suffering to go around. Why do we seek out more on social media?
@pcbeard @Sheril
Right? Social media isn't real life, why let it get to you? Some stranger being an arsehole isn't the same as your friend doing the same thing.
