Tired of breaking records in Phoenix. To relate to this practical experience: couldn’t use our pool since the middle of June. The water is too warm. Most days we hit 110° still.

From local news: “As of Tuesday, Phoenix had reached 100 degrees for 100 days in a row breaking the previous record of 76 consecutive days of triple-digit temperatures set in August 1993.”

@cobalt
I can’t imagine dealing with that day in and day out. I don’t know when your weather is expected to cool, but I hope it’s soon! 🙏
@cobalt I saw that and was thinking of you and the family. Stay cool, please!
@cobalt August 2024 was the hottest August on record globally, as was the case for 13 of 14 months preceding (June '23 - June '24). Plan on it being worse next year.
@cobalt Yikes. I’m intolerant to heat, I would die.

@cobalt , you should really look into an evaporative cooler for your pool. Phoenix is the PERFECT place for one. Right now, NWS shows the temperature in Phoenix at 111 degrees, but with 8% humidity. This yields a wet-bulb temperature of about 67 degrees, meaning that an evaporative cooler would theoretically cool the water to about 75 degrees.

I installed one on our pool here in the Dallas area and it keeps our pool at 85 degrees, even with Dallas humidity.
