Why do you appreciate unions?

I’ll start:

Weekends off
Paid vacations
Work breaks
Sick leave
Paid holidays
No child labor
Safer working conditions
Health care and retirement benefits

@rbreich Because they struggle against capitalism
@rbreich Just getting to vant my frustration about a manipulative manager and realizing I've been gaslighted all along.

@rbreich

Overtime pay
How strong unions raise the wage for everyone, not just union members

@rbreich Depends on the state. Sarah HogAbee Sanders has made child labor legal again in her right to work state. Hate the poor because CRUELTY is the point.
@rbreich because my nearest grocery store is being struck by the union, I tried an employee-owned store only a little further away, and cut my weekly grocery total by almost $100.

@rbreich
In the U.S., all of those are the bare minimum and they're only still there by inertia. Over here (N.Z.), you also get fair pay, and you get treated with the basic respect that everyone should get as a human being. You get treated as someone who is in good faith going to do honest work rather than a potential criminal that might rob the employer at any time.

My dues also pay for people who are experts at employment contracts to negotiate my employment contract for me.

@rbreich Having a union rep presence with me during reviews & hearings that would prevent the supervisor from giving warnings or letting the employee go without proof of infraction.
@rbreich Accountabilty for bosses (at least, *some* accountability).
