Re LB: Oof, that sentence "the market for written tech journalism is not what it once was – nor will it ever be again", in my mind the emphasis is on "written" there, which makes me sad. Video, video, video all the time is just so inefficient with my time, give me a skimmable written article any day of the week. But I guess at least video is harder for the LLMs to steal? This timeline sucks.
@sinbad I would think the reason why videos are so popular is because of the fact you can listen to it while doing something else. Like podcast consumption.
And now that every service out there try to monetize/optimize for this kind of content, text gets less visibility. It's a vicious circle. :/
