One thing driving me absolutely insane about this election is the extent to which coverage of the Trump campaign acts as if Trump wasn't previously president and has a record that should lead us to take his promises with a grain of salt. Like, this headline should straight up include the fact that he tried to repeal the ACA!

Trump says he wants to make IVF treatments paid for by government or insurance companies if elected

Donald Trump said in an interview Thursday that if elected, his administration would not only protect access to IVF but would have either the government or insurance companies cover the cost.

@jbouie Until we have an alternative means of organizing information flow from the people who have it, to the people who might use it, we will continue to rely on antiquated and clearly broken publishing models that can only pretend to “inform” the public, to make a profit.
Apparently in the CNN interview, Dana Bash embarrassed herself – and frankly, the media at large – by asking Kamala Harris how she "identifies" racially. To which Harris responded, "Same old tired playbook. Next question." She was responding to both Trump and the media, which has, with shocking credulity and eagerness, allowed this charlatan to dictate their reporting for nearly a decade. It's high time for a reckoning – if they are capable of self-examination anymore.
It’s like people have been Memento-d
Also a big problem with fact-checking – the most recent statement, no matter how absurd/unlikely/dishonest, supersedes all previous statements/actions, which can no longer be cited as authoritative

@jbouie one of his problems is that when he’s speaking off the cuff, sometimes he accidentally stumbles into supporting good ideas, because they are so obviously good and would be pipular popular. But, he’s too dumb and ideologically hollow to realize that they are often in direct contrast with his party’s platform and Republican/conservative principles, or things that he has directly opposed in the past
@jbouie Why anyone believes him on healthcare, women’s rights, jobs, immigration or really anything is beyond me.
