@panic #Audion (Viewer) as #AppleMusic controller is just awesome!

There is a github repo with some basic changes need to do to make it work: https://github.com/zydeco/audion/tree/applescript

I build my self a version based on the lastest sources (https://gitlab.com/panicinc/audion).

Sadly there are a few bugs. For example:
- The scrolling song title breaks out
- The interface settings dialog doesn’t work - it’s just a placeholder

#mp3player #musicplayer #proofofconcept #retro #retrocomputing

@scops Thank you for enjoying Audion!

We just pushed some changes to https://gitlab.com/panicinc/audion to resolve the song title issue. (The actual changes are in the FaceKit submodule).

macOS 14 changed the way it handled view clipping by default, but only if you're compiling with Xcode 15 and later. Because we were compiling Audion with an older Xcode, we didn't update the code before now.

Please feel free to file feature or bug requests in the gitlab repo for anything else you run into.

@panic thanks a lot! i will update my local build today x) maybe you could also check the changes made in the github repo i mentioned and include them in the official build?

@scops While we're stoked that folks have used the code for projects like controlling Apple Music, that's not something we want to support in our official repo, so we won't be merging those kinds of changes back.

We released this version of Audion to celebrate its history and—more importantly—the many awesome faces made by awesome people. We kept the functionality limited because we don't want to give the impression that Audion is coming back as a product.

@panic fully understandable ... nevertheless sad for folks like me that want these days of wonderful, slim and skinable music players back in which Audion was one of the best the mac had :)
