Is there a term for discouraging someone by bringing up an issue that you don't actually understand?

Recent examples I've heard are suggesting that people shouldn't go to Iceland because there is a volcano, or that people shouldn't do home pickling because of botulism.

"Concern trolling" came to mind, but the definitions of it online generally suggest intent.

Whatever the word is, this happens with hydrazine a lot. People who know nothing about it are more likely to consider it impractical or unsafe.

@Lars Something I was wondering about the other day that you might know off the top of your head: is anyone making hydrazine from engineered yeast, the way they do for some drugs? Seems like it would be possible since some fungi already make small quantities of it.

@wikkit strong bases and amines can be biologically challenging.
The False Morel has a monomethylhydrazine hydrate complex that can be decomposed into MMH. I'm not familiar with the specifics, but I don't think it would be an efficient process.

But NTO can be pulled out of the air, because it is condensed smog.
