Australia just recorded temperatures of 41.6 degrees C (106.9 degrees F)…. in the middle of WINTER.
Australia sees hottest winter temperature on record, a brutal 107 degrees

Record-setting temperatures β€” more typical of summer β€” are affecting large parts of the country.

@luckytran Can understand why some people LIVED UNDERGROUND in some places and maybe something many will have to repeat doing for some time till changes occur ????

@luckytran It's almost SPRING!

(Yes, it's climate change, but it's not the middle of winter)

@luckytran

We so screwed...

@kfanyo @luckytran

And how. "During the most recent, daily average temperatures climbed to 25 degrees (14 Celsius) above normal in southeast Australia"

Imagine what 25 degrees warmer than normal SUMMER temperatures will be like in 5 months.

@VirginiaHolloway @luckytran

TBH, that's unimaginable, at least for me. That's like Death Valley in Maryland, USA.

@kfanyo @luckytran It's a race: will we die off before we render the earth wholly inimical to life, or we take it all with us? Who knows?
@luckytran hope they did take advantage of some of the weather for production of something ..if was possible ??? We had 100 here this year this summer ...
@luckytran it's not the middle of winter, it's the end. Spring begins officially on September 1 in Australia. Also up there in the tropics they have different seasons, at least 6 different ones. But it certainly is hotter than usual, apologies for the mansplaining.
@luckytran
I've been to Australia in the winter in 1998. Their winter, in August. It was freezing at the time (Perth, Fremantle, Hobart). This is scary but not surprising.
@luckytran well, towards the end of winter.
@luckytran hi @kali or @kali what the fuck is your country doing
@luckytran Yes we definitely had some hot (winter) August days in Sydney β€” even if that location is above the tropics line, and would be β€œdry season”, not winter
