#ElonMusk is posting information to portray both Mastodon and Instagram as child pornography sites.
These two social networks are X competitors, and Musk is using his own social network to misrepresent his competitors to 196 million followers.
Imagine if 196 million Volkswagen drivers received multiple messages on their car stereo from the CEO of Volkswagen that other car brands were "child porn car brands".
I doubt European competition laws would allow that.

It seems like in the book, Orwell’s totalitarian state grows out of the military-industrial complex Eisenhower warned about. it makes sense - that was a huge economic juggernaut post WWII.
I don’t think Orwell was prescient enough to understand the threat of Capitalism and the attention economy driving authoritarianism.
@SteveYYC @randahl Good point. Orwell wrote his book based on the forces of the time.
What we have now is a different beast. The ideological labels of communism / capitalism seem less important than staggering inequalities of wealth and new forms of media that fit in our pockets under complete control of oligarchs. Joseph Goebbels would have been envious.
