I do actively like the Keighleyverse events

Dude gave SkateBIRD a shot way back with the first one? And that probably helped a ton.

I dunno, I just, do actually like the current not-E3 cluster of events. Between all the festivals and Keighleyverse there's a TON more slots for indies to be noticed. That's rad! This is MUCH better than the physical show ever was.

"is it full of ads" well sure, just like uh. Well. Every similar event. Even PAX is stuffed full of ads. E3 was Oops All Ads. The various film and TV equivalent shows are comically ad stuffed too.

We're just used to it because they're "traditional", and so we straight up don't notice the ads anymore. Keighlyverse stuff is newer and gamerer, so doesn't feel the same. If it survives a few decades it'll feel like a noble tradition to watch the Glick Razor Man ascend the stage and ceremonially raze the proceedings.

@glassbottommeg There's definitely some…dissonance, especially with TGA. But you're absolutely right, in what way is a games showcase _not_ literally just a series of ads? It's a promotional showcase, not a democracy or meritocracy.

Reminds me of how "selling out" used to be a bad thing.
