@malwaretech The first cycle indeed just rinse, but that is not useless as there are lots of stuff which is removed that way. It also uses cold water, so that the powder will not be much effective.
Most dishwashers can operate this "rinse" cycle alone, you can see for yourself how effective it is. I normally operate it if I only have half a load so that the dishwasher will only be run the next day.

I would doubt advices from TikTok, in general.

@dl2jml @malwaretech it's your lucky day https://youtube.com/watch?v=jHP942Livy0 @TechConnectify did a comprehensive video on how to best run a dishwasher and why, if you're into that kind of kinky shit

@raven667
Please do not ask me to watch youtube videos.

I don't like videos, they normally take 10 minutes to tell me stuff which can be written in 2 sentences.
I am not interested in "influencers", I don't believe someone's opinion is more valuable because of more followers.
I won't like or follow, because I don't have a google account.
I hate advertisement, either official or slightly disguised as a video.

Thank you.

@dl2jml @raven667 you're really missing out on Alec's videos then. He has a way of explaining the ordinary in a fascinating way.

No, thank you.

@dl2jml If you don't want to watch a video, simply move along. Your comments complaining about the video are annoying unwanted clutter to those of us who do want video links.

@raven667 @vandorb12 Alec's video about dishwasher operations is excellent, thanks for sharing it as I had lost a link to it and wanted to send it to a family member.

I use a teaspoon each of borax and washing soda in the initial rinse cycle -- much cheaper than adding more dishwasher detergent and as effective.

@femme_mal
My post was boosted about 10 times so it stands to reason that I am not alone to be against youtube videos. This is mastodon: most users came here to be in a user managed, decentralized social network. They don't want to be sent to a corporate, paid by advertising social network as youtube is. 1/2

@femme_mal
But there are easy solutions for video lovers:

1: post link to peertube, a user managed, decentralized video platform or

2: at the very least, write a short summary of the video you send people to so that they can check whether it is worth their time to watch it. Here: "that video teaches to use warm water for the first rinse". 2/2

@dl2jml And yet you continue to clutter this thread with unrelated policing of discussion.

Let me liberate you to move on.
