Linux - Lemmy

Linux/opensource crossword made using gnome crossword maker just for a bit of fun

Neither Vanilla OS nor Silverblue fit

19 down - WinNT

::: Proof LOL :::

I think there’s a mistake, I can’t fit ā€œneovimā€ into 8 across.
And ā€œnothingā€ does not fit, either.

1 is nixos

and 8 does not exist so nan:P

They could possibly mean neovim.
does not fit though, but we vim fanatics do not have to worry, through the power of wordle solver, we can use exits instead lol

vim was a mistake. Go back to vi.
…but modernizing it is still a good idea, so I present to you: neovi

(No, I’m not serious)

How do you spell ed with five letters? smh
How do you spell Writing out bytes on a hard drive platter by carefully using a needle and a magnet with five letters? smh my head*

Almost got it, it’s

nano

why are there so many List Files… ? Also 31 doesn’t fit.

All those Distro Questions (29, 18, 27) are missing 2 spaces (OS is part of their name)

  • Better than vim
  • I’m done here, this crossword is bullshit

The answer has got to be helix ;)
    We’re not friends anymore.
no, it should be kakoune :P
    neovim?
I don’t think about neovim being separate to vim, sorry.
It seems like only one side of the ancient rivalry is represented in the comments here. No worries, I’m right there with you.
I was expecting a ā€˜better than emacs’ clue to go along with this one.
Today I learned that gnome has a crossword maker. Now I need to play with it too!
I have no idea what 9 and 24 are, and at this point i don’t know if i care anymore

    I don’t know 24, but 9 is:

    solution to 9 down

    scripting

Someone else said it. I never would’ve gotten this myself but now that I see it it makes sense.

    24 across is

    GENDER

Thank you i knew it was something of that nature
Thank you, now i feel a bit dumb but i can rest in peace
You need a spell checker friend.

Nice. I solved 22 (with 2 of them being unsure), there’s 12 I don’t know. I can only assume the multiple listings of ā€˜List files in current directory’ is a deliberate joke because you use it so much, but somehow it doesn’t feel right.

You should find a website to share it where people can play it interactively! I’m sure such websites are out there, it’s too obvious.

    ā€œneovimā€ doesn’t fit in 8 Across
    Deleted has too many letters

    AHAHAHAH

I made a comment about how ā€œneovimā€ doesn’t fit in 8 across but found right after that there was a comment like that already

So… Anybody smarter than me know that 24 across is. I thought something like showering/bathing because supposedly people don’t like to shower/cleanup as cons but neither seem to fit. Then I thought friends but that doesn’t make sense either. So I got nothing.

Edit: Remove the ING from showering and it fits. Gotta check the connected ones to see if it works, though, assuming I get those right.

Edit Edit: I absolutely hate the "Best WM (Wayland) one because that is too subjective to be able to be answered correctly, if you ask me.

Best WM (Wayland) shoud be Hyprland, it’s exact length and fits with 18 and 32.

    I get G _ N _ _ R there.

I’m not 100% confident about the G but the other two I’m positive of. It’s not SHOWER but I have no idea what it is

    Someone else said it.

    24 across is

    GENDER

I must have missed that comment.

Pretty confident in my solve. The only ones I didn’t get myself were 20-down, 29-down (obvious in retrospect), and 21-across (inferred the word, but didn’t know the tool).

I don’t think your spoiler tag worked.
    Voyager Displays it correctly.
Are you using Sync? It never got the memo that Lemmy spoiler tags don’t work the same way as Reddit ones and famously displays them improperly
I am using Sync. Any suggestions on a better alternative?
The official app (maintained by the Lemmy developers) is Jerboa, which is what I’ve been using. It works well enough, although it always pays to shop around, install a bunch of different clients and see which you like best. Sync, to my knowledge, is the only client, for mobile or web, that renders spoilers in that broken way.
Boost For Lemmy is not rendering spoiler tag
