Still can't really believe I survived shipping Kitsune Tails. Probably the hardest thing I've ever done in my life

@eniko My head used the wrong version of shipping and I was briefly very very confused :)

Hope this is the very last time you do this (this way) and any future games end up being a more fun and less stress experiences.

@yon i also sincerely hope this is the last time i have to do it this way XD

@eniko I think to a fair bunch of us you are “our” indie dev since a bunch of us ended up on the fediverse around the same time.

I understood the worry for those that built their livelihood around social media in one way or another, and jumping into something new still scares people.

Now after the game is out, how do you feel about begin active on the fediverse?

@yon i feel great about it. i honestly don't think the launch would've gone over nearly as well without the massive amount of support i got on fedi around launch. aside from people just being super supportive, the release post i made got 1.6k boosts which is phenomenal. i'd recommend fedi to any gamedev who is serious about using social media to help support their work

not just that fedi also played a big part in us even making it to launch. we were afraid we'd run out of money long before august and if it hadn't been for fedi buying our older titles and giving to my patreon and kofi i don't know what i would've done

@eniko @yon time to update the KitsuneGames pages to include the Fedi profiles then finally ;-)

(Also not sure if this is intentional or just the result of how stressed out and tired you've been, the kitsunegames.com “Home” page has the last article from June 21 —I would have guessed the release of Kitsune Tails would deserve some kind of announcement article there ;-))

@oblomov @yon look its impressive that i updated the kitsune tails game page and added the releases to the latest releases calendar DX i dont got any more juice in me than that
@eniko @yon yeah, I figured it was something like that. Hope you're getting some well-deserved rest these days.

@eniko You did have a great advantage in being an earlier adopter and being part of a wave (and I don’t see another wave of that type happening to be honest). People like me (I have multiple account for anyone looking at when I joined:)) were looking for people to follow.

Now I’m trying to figure out how to cull my feed:)

Lots of us were/are rooting for you guys. I quipped the other day that I think I like indie devs more than indie games :) There’s a lot of us out there that are devs, loves games, but would never consider a job in the games industry. I think we are hoping to see indie game devs change things for the bigger in the long term.

@yon yeah. i posted and told many devs in private many times that that was the time to swap if they wanted to gain traction and it would only get harder over time and they didn't listen so that makes me very sad

@eniko What people don’t realize is that there’s often no joy in being right about something:(

Discovery on fedi isn’t great either, so they missed out. There might be a few more I’d like to follow, but I have to do a bit too much legwork for it:(

I swear I saw the people who made Cassette Beast on here, but I don’t know if I followed and they got quiet or if I forgot to and couldn’t find them again:(

@yon @eniko I have 0 regrets about coming to Mastodon it shows what Social Media could be if the big three tech companies weren't just interested keeping us divided.

@Susan_Larson_TN @eniko I think of the fediverse as the great experiment rather than some kind of end state. As you say what it can be.

It’s not exactly perfect, and I hope it evolves into new and exciting things. The important part is that we try to do it largely together.

Imho at least :)
