About time to drop a paper thread. Anyone still on here?
@pfau ML scene is comatose here, but for other interests this place is quite lively.
@varavs @pfau There's also recsys.social
@varavs Where has the ML scene gone? Seems like Twitter is just AI influencers now.

@pfau Twitter is still the largest for ML, rest have scattered between here, bluesky and threads. I guess bsky is the second strongest after twitter, but not by much.
On paper all 3 of these alternatives can be combined via bsky bridge and federation for threads. In practice, it's janky.

I feel strongly aligned to open source and the vaguely european focus of mastodon, which is enough for me to hang out here.

@pfau im using this as a backup but still checking!
@pfau Yes. I think with Mastodon it is hard for post authors to judge reach, which is too bad, and that most people wouldn't respond to a ping request like this.
For ML news, I have just started having alerts for publications and preprints from authors whose labs are hubs for significant innovation. There's so much going on that I guess that'll have to do for now.
