Yesterday I had slept poorly, was stressed, and felt awful. My training plan had me running a critical velocity workout. Instead of pushing through, I switched up for an easy run and did the CV workout today. Yesterday, that easy run was a slog and I barely made it through. With a good nights sleep and food, I felt strong on the CV run. Remembering to be flexible and listen to my body is something I’ve been practicing! #running

@Ponddrop
I keeep making this mistake with lifting 😅
Sometimes you just need a little caffeine or an active rest day...aaand sometimes you need to take a day (or a week) off!

We're so wired to push through things, that even when we're listening to our body we might not actually hear it.
So good job on giving yourself a little break, it sounds like you needed it!

@Incognitim I did need it! I am the worst for just trying to push through and not rest when I need it.

@Ponddrop Same! 💯😂

I'm not sure about running, but a while back I just happened to stumble upon a video talking about the current state of studies/literature on resting with lifting and it blew my mind! Systemic fatigue is no joke...especially once you're out of your 20s 😅

I've always done rest days, but forcing myself to take a rest week every so often has really paid off!
