The way these businesses have been getting away with robbing customers who no longer want their services is criminal. Tantamount to robbery.

I am glad President Biden is doing something about it. Long overdue.

The American people are tired of corporations screwing us over.

@TonyStark This is why I'm a Democrat. Never, in the history of the modern GOP, has that party ever tried to help the little guy stand up to businesses that abuse their power. Republicans would rather give those businesses tax cuts and the right to put mandatory arbitration clauses in the fine print in every transaction.

@TonyStark This is really important. I got a notice a few months ago about a security breach, with some "free" credit monitoring offered. I aborted signing up because the "terms of service" said I'd have to call to cancel. Some 300,000 people were impacted. I figured I'd be on hold for the rest of my life trying to cancel if I had completed it.

@bzdev This sort of thing has happened to me and I consider myself a fairly savvy consumer.

People are tired of being ripped off by companies spending more time trying to figure out ways to squeeze regular people instead of trying to improve actual service. Fraud sucks.

So my bank went after them!

@TonyStark I remember having to cancel a credit card to stop a subscription, and they threatened to turn me over to a collection agency, if I cancelled.

I told them I'd turn them over to the press.

It also takes up people’s time, which for most people is fairly valuable. If you’re working and have a family or other obligations, you should be able to just cancel some service you don’t want without jumping through hours of hoops. Whatever your situation is, scamming people hoping they give up or don’t notice is effed up.
