so uh, if youre subscribed to my patreon, and you did it through an apple device, you may wanna cancel and resubscribe via android or the patreon website because apparently apple is just gonna start taking 30% of the money you wanted me to have come november

this also goes for any other creators you may be supporting

EDIT: apparently this only affects new subscriptions and not preexisting ones? for now, anyway 😒

@eniko IS THAT LEGAL ??!! How can Apple "take a cut FROM Patreon 'because you subscribed from an apple device' "! ??? .. Or it's because the effective payment happens via some Apple Payment method so they charge 30% for that ?? Can they ? I can't believe there's not some EU regulation saying 'they can't do that' ? .. So they are not 'taking from Patreon' but they are charging you 30% because you pay "Via Apple Device" ?? That's a HUGE percentage !! I still wonder "is that legal" ???!!

They have been playing cat and mouse with the EU for a long time: https://www.theverge.com/2024/3/4/24005938/european-commission-antitrust-apple-investigation-anti-steering-rules-app-developers. This is just one of them, USB-C, third party app stores, AI, ... after any new regulation they always invent a new "trick" against the spirit of the law to keep their golden jail, jail paid by users and developers.... My hatred for Apple is matching my hatred for Microsoft, but as a developer I hate Apple even more...
