Anyone here who does tatting? A friend wanted to get some stitch markers for her kid, and wanted to know whether they needed to open or not. I'm guessing they do need to open, but I don't personally know.

@Raeyn removable would be the way to go, but I don't find stitch markers useful in tatting the way they are in knitting (there's only so many places you can use them that won't tend to mess up the design by leaving gaps or weighing down your piece in a bad way) so it might not be the best present unless her kid has a specific need for them?

@terri I pointed her towards some cheap and cheerful spiral ones on Amazon as a starting place. Her desire to buy was based on child expressing a desire for them, so who knows what she's up to exactly. :D

And yeah, I figured if one did make markers for tatting, they would need to be super lightweight and opening.

@Raeyn
I never have used stitch markers for tatting. The pattern itself usually works as a marker.
But if you really want to mark something, I would prefer open markers, too.

(and would probably use a paperclip but that's another story...)
