For those trapped in heat waves or domes (or the rest of us who need puffins) here’s a very determined Antarctic guy for coolant.

He looks like he’s late for something he really doesn’t care to attend.

@SherBeareth When do you sleep? I often wonder? I mean, I barely sleep, up all night.. but so are you? BTW. About 3 miles offshore, and about 6 miles from my boat launch, is an island that Puffins nest on. There's only a dozen places, only about 3 are publicly know, the big places. But, my boat is small and the sea is rough, I've been trying to get out in spring to see the puffins. It's been 50 years since I saw them there.

@Rasta Do sail to the Puffins!! I’ve sailed near their villages off the coast of Maine several times. They are protected. For now.

I’m also plagued with short sleep hours. Three here, four there, a night owl who loves early morning. A bit. So I write and visit the other Mastodon peeps and pets — and snack, naturally. Red grapes and Fritos tonight. And I have an Almond Joy at the ready. 🌴

@SherBeareth They aren't ready yet, but we have grapes everywhere. Formerly, I built a fence between the properties, and planted grape vines. IN the summer, the lattice fence provided great privacy with grape leaves. My neighbour whined and wanted a different fence, and dug up bushes of mine, so I removed my grapes and restarted them elsewhere. Will take a few years to return to full size but we have a huge yield every year, racing the birds to them.
Mornings are my thing.
@Rasta Oh that’s fabulous. We only have Concord for jam and tart grape flavoring. What don’t you have? So cool.
@SherBeareth That's my mission. I want some of everything. I bought two types of Currant bushes last year, they had about 3 berries each, so far. Grapes, cultivated raspberry field, cultivated wild blueberry field, strawberries (wild and tame), no cranberries in my yard but we pick nearby in Fall. Our freezer supplies us all winter and my wife won't let me buy jam. There's rows of assorted jams and jellies in the cool storage room downstairs. My wife does all these things.
@SherBeareth The concords look like grape jelly, the yellow ones we have taste the same in jam but come out GREY from the colours and look gross. When she gives others bottles of jam, she give the blue concord grape jelly, we keep the grey looking ones for ourselves. Same grape taste.
@Rasta @SherBeareth concords are jelly grapes add purple grape jello for the other grapes to see if color is better or add blueberries...I add red cherry jello to cherries for jelly and jams to improve color and less sugar ...

@Lstn2urmama @Rasta

That’s a fabulous trick. I will definitely give it a try. thank you. Less sugar works. 😊 We should raid Rasta’s copious 🇨🇦 orchard and Berrry Farms and bring Jello. Wink.

@SherBeareth @Rasta He has been holding out I must agree...😆 I have never seen cherry trees so high where need actual cherry picker machines...but he does share with the birds ...

I also Have used Agar expensive yet so much less sugar only half a cup and a tablespoon of Agar... BUT will experiment with actual seaweed and what comes of it ..🤔

@Lstn2urmama @SherBeareth
My Stella cherry tree grew so fast, that I could reach the cherries anyway. Then, a hurricane took one side off and left it badly mis-shaped, so I cut the other tall arm off too, and now it's only 8 feet tall again. I might be able to net it next year if we keep it small.
IN the city, we never saw cherries until this year. The birds get them. But, the grapes grew over the cherry tree and hid the cherries. WE got them before the birds saw them.
Seaweed has nutrients
@Rasta @SherBeareth wow they were very tall when saw pics ... but cutting will allow to spread in width as well.. are Stella's sweet cherries ??
@Lstn2urmama @SherBeareth
My nectarine tree had 20 nectarines. Everyone fell off. Investigating why, they say CUT THE TOPS OFF, only 4 main branches, keep it low, and less fruit, or they will all fall off. Apple trees drop apples for life support, if too many, and it's dry, they shed some so the tree lives
@Rasta @SherBeareth Probably all trees that have too much weight and movement for the wind will lose more fruit and why trees are kept short about 8-10 foot tall ...
@Rasta @SherBeareth seaweed coming with a warning of not to consume much on a daily basis .. where using for jam should not be a problem .. will have to wait and see if works.. because so much cheaper if does ... only thing is it still is green 🤔
@Lstn2urmama @SherBeareth
My father, when he retired, built a large chicken house. 100 chickens, incubators (think I still have one) and the cost and location of chicken feed made him curious. There's enough and more nutrition in seaweed *rockweed* but how to get them to eat it? GRIND IT UP with feed. He reduced his feed costs by 60% and his yield up 20%.
I don't have chickens anymore but we did in the 80s. I do the same if I still had them
@Rasta @SherBeareth this why they are collecting and using for feed in cattle as is a better digestion and less gas ... known this for years now ...

@Rasta @Lstn2urmama

Crikey I missed tons catering to the cat and getting my tea on.

That’s fabulous. Early morning chat really sets a good vibe! When I ran a discussion website we had a post for it and everyone loved to get their day together in fine company. Morning Open Discussion. Of course we used it all day 🤣 and fiercely debated East and Pacific time. I was out in Cali visiting Laffy with Morning Joe at 3 am every day —it felt daring. But I prefer The Maddow at 9pm.

@SherBeareth @Rasta I usually get to see them briefly and go to sleep ..
HAVE TRIED TO CONNECT TO Laffy but I get she or her posts do not exsist every time ... and always look for interesting things that catches my attention when I open app...

Good night All am in Alberta ... 430am 😴😴😴😴

@Lstn2urmama @Rasta

A very good evening to you. It’s been a pleasure I will remember. Go 🇨🇦. Having Canadian friends and The Laffers on tap is a privilege.

Laffy consistently arrives at 9:30am Eastern. Then, but for breaks she tells us about, is on until Pacific cocktail hour. It’s easy to land her with the Search function.

There ought to be a fan name for her. I’ve known her since the Bush administration and can say she’s one of the Greatest of Helpers hereabouts. 🩵

@SherBeareth @Rasta either she has me blocked or deletes her posts as am told nothing exists everytime and yet I see all posts and others that contact her..
So I have no idea what is going on.???
@Lstn2urmama @Rasta Oh I love the seaweed gelatin idea.
@SherBeareth will have to see if it works and is not fishy or too green also 😆
