How the criminal justice system deals with a riot

"Indeed, the disturbances of the last few days seemed worse than riots. They appeared to be more like concerted pogroms. They looked as if they were politically directed and coordinated.

In essence: what happened may have been more akin to terrorism - deliberate political violence."

@davidallengreen It will be interesting to see what sentences are given especially in relation to the recent Just Stop Oil case.
@sellathechemist @davidallengreen As some have already been convicted and sentenced, I believe, I wonder where I can find out this information too.
@derickr @davidallengreen Looks like we have our answer. Two months for causing criminal damage. But, hey, he wasn't "conspiring". https://mastodon.online/@Geri/112919419079445049

James Nelson is thought to be the first person to be jailed for their part in the #UKRiots. Smashing 2 police cars, he was convicted of causing criminal damage in Bolton & given a 2-month prison sentence. Last week, Roger Hallam, Daniel Shaw, Louise Lancaster, Lucia Whittaker De Abreu and Cressida Gethin, from #JustStopOil, who hadn't caused any criminal damage whatsoever, were found guilty of conspiring to cause a public nuisance recieved 4 year prision sentences (Hallam 5) Justice?

I admire the ability to be so oblivious that an ex soldier interviewed on the news states that (paraphrased) He will carry on regardless in the fight to stop radicalized extremists, even if that means being labelled a radical extremist!
@davidallengreen
I thought calling the riots pogroms was probably accurate and the most disturbing aspect of the unrest.
