Whenever I listen to the problems Trump has caused, I think back at conversation I had with a US voter at a dinner party in 2016.

Considering him an intelligent person, I asked him how Trump could have so much success, when it was so obvious that he was a conman.

Even this intelligent being before me replied, "Well maybe Trump has a lot to offer. After all, he is a skilled businessman."

It was at that moment I realized, how many voters had paid zero attention, and how dangerous that was.

@randahl

As for paying attention, you could be forgiven for choosing ignorance over misinformation, these days.

But yes. Either case leads to the danger of repeating history.

@randahl a successful conman, it seems.

@gdinwiddie not even that... ๐Ÿ˜‚
(successful conmen don't get arrested.)

#Trump

@randahl Yet this Australian knew 30 years ago that Trump was a liar and fraudsterโ€”which many in USA try to deny.
@randahl It isn't necessarily a lack of paying attention - all it takes is for your conversation partner to be one of those people who believe that if you're rich, then you must be "skilled"; otherwise how can you be rich? This view cancels everything out; you can point to failed businesses from now to eternity & they'll still be like "but he's rich, so he must be a talented person; we just don't understand it, which is why we aren't rich"...
@randahl
This is shocking, willful blindness. Trump was never a skillful businessman. He never paid his bills in full. His creditors, inexplicably in thrall to him, always settled for less. Conman, through and through. Unfortunately, some people admire that, but call it โ€œskillโ€ because theyโ€™re a bit ashamed of their admiration. His house of cards is collapsing, though. Harris will win the popular vote resoundingly. It will come down to the accursed Electoral College and possibly the corrupt SCOTUS. Iโ€™m optimistic that Harris will win and Trump will do time, albeit maybe not in prison.
@randahl SEE ! That is what Grump counts on STUPIDITY and IGNORANCE !!!๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ
@randahl
One simple answer.
Businessman = conman.
@randahl He's bankrupted six companies in the past and wants another crack at bankrupting the USA. Definitely not a skilled businessman. That speaks more of corruption and incompetence than anything else. Not a leader to be followed.
@randahl we did not and many of us still do not understand how easily our democratic institutions can be abused to give us a negative outcome. Things are not supposed to work this way.
