I’ve been reading about Trump’s performance in Georgia today. According to the Washington Post, his advisers didn’t want him to spend all his time attacking Kemp and instead wanted him to focus on attacking Harris’s policies. If accurately reported, the most telling thing about this is how absurd the “advisers” are. Trump is not changing. He isn’t a regular candidate of a legitimate political party. He’s a criminal would-be authoritarian, desperate to avoid prison. 1/
Anybody who serves as an adviser to Trump knows that he has no interest in substantive policy debates and no capacity to engage in substantive policy discussion. If they had wanted a candidate like that, they would have had to do everything possible to get the Republican organization to utterly reform itself and to then have it nominate somebody else. 2/
To advise Trump is to enable him. 3/3
