Good writing advice:

- You should write
- However much you can
- Or want
- Even if that’s 50 words a day
- Even if it’s 5
- That’s enough
- You’re enough

And look, you didn’t need to pay $499 for a fucking “masterclass”

@Daojoan this is good advice and I can barely even write properly ☝️

@noodnle @Daojoan

" this is good advice and I can barely even write properly "

Or.. did you mean to say:

" this is good advice and I can rarely even bite properly "

(Sorry... I'm a compulsive Spoonerist)

@gsymon @Daojoan I do love a good spoon 🥄 ✨
@Daojoan
And for people who want to improve: A much cheaper way to do so is to show your work to other people and ask for feedback

@Daojoan My biggest writing breakthrough was to realize that I was writing to impress people who didn't care.

It took a lot of self-work to realize this, but when I finally let it go and started writing for me, the words came out like laughter.

Writing with joy is such a wonderful experience.

@Daojoan @vegetarianzombie This! I mean writing for yourself. The same thing happend to me. Once I just started writing for my own pleasure, the words come so much easier 🙂
@f @Daojoan well done! And it’s impressive see how far you’ve come with your writing. You were always so good as a tech writer. I’m sure your fiction is just as good
@vegetarianzombie Thanks, Brian 🙂That's very kind of you to say so.

@Daojoan Love this toot.

Do the work, watch the growth.

@Daojoan That. So much that.

I've shared/written +18000 posts on Mastodon since November 2022. If each was just 5 words long, I'd have written +90000 words — a novel-length work.

If I can write the equivalent of a Mastodon post a day, I can write a novel.

Now I just need to figure out what's holding me back from writing the last 10K words I need to close my current WIP. *sigh*

@Daojoan I try to keep reminding myself that little steps build up to something bigger over time.
