I listen to stuff like this and it is ALWAYS the state / province which holds the city back and often screws it over.

North America desperately needs devolution of power to municipalities.

The Urbanist Agenda: NYC REALLY Screwed Up Congestion Pricing (with Doug Gordon) (50m)

New York City was about to roll out congestion charging. The cameras were up, the staff were hired, the metro projects were financed, and thousands of people were lined up to make public transit better ... and then the governor cancelled it on vibes.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Congestion_pricing_in_New_York_Cityhttps://thewaroncars.org/2024/06/07/kathy-hochuls-congestion-pricing-flip-flop-fiasco/https://www.politico.com/news/2024/06/05/new-york-city-toll-hochul-democrats-00161930https://hellg…

I agree. The next form of government, (if we are to have a democracy) must prioritize cities, devolve power to CMSAs.

I don’t care what her motivations were—

She’s now evil.

I will never vote for her again.

I will continue to bring up her failures at life and against life :: support of climate change happening, support of bad air (pollution), support of student doxxing, support of health compromised folks dying

Every single time I see her name from here on out.

@heliomass @notjustbikes @TheWarOnCars I'd be careful about anything based on municipality in the US because borders are so often drawn to exclude disfavored minorities, at least in major metro regions. Only if the whole metro region was under one authority would it make sense to delegate this way
@heliomass @notjustbikes @TheWarOnCars “always” is quite strong. See the mountain lion example in california: https://calmatters.org/housing/2022/02/california-zoning-housing-podcast/
