I'm reading about pre-Christian Irish religion. A common theme starting about 3,000 years ago is, first, that skill in poetry goes together with magical power and wisdom; they weren't separate concepts.

Second, the poet-druids would physically wreck places by singing a "satire" or diss track about the local leader. That caused fire, blight, famine, military defeat, and so on.

One question this raises for me is whether Weird Al or Garfunkel & Oates are really sorcerers? How about Kendrick Lamar?
