@hyaniner there's a GURPS ( pen&paper RPG rule-set) supplementary book for mecha fights. It's very good. It presents important "considerations". Some considerations look heavily under-utilized across many other genres.

same book is mentioned in comments
Designing a Mecha in GURPS Vehicles - Is It Really That Difficult?

YouTube
@aaaaaa_I spent my early teens creating board games with pen and paper. In my mid-teens, I learned about the existence of D&D and Sword World. I wanted to have a universal TRPG system that could be used in other genres like sci-fi. So I spent about a year on it in my late teens. After some draft work was completed, I learned of the existence of something called GURPS. I was discouraged by the fact that someone else had already done it before me.

It was the moment when my young self realized how large the world and history were.

The story above was about how I ended up becoming a game designer. Among them, I was passionate about designing game rules and mechanics. It still is. It's the pillar of my soul.

I should have noticed sooner. There's no way GURPS doesn't have mecha! GURPS has almost everything. I don't want to give GURPS high marks for gameplay purposes. But it's really good for a quick overview of what past precedents were.

I think it would be a good snack. My curiosity is intense. I will definitely find it and read it. :)
I saw the video. As I expected, it is having some form of convergent evolution similar to BattleTech. lol
@hyaniner it has much higher level gameplay concepts than we are used to in CRPG, I think today's CRPG is geared towards flaunting and fan-service. GURPS is rather "utilitarian" for lack of better word. "Utilitarian" as in Robocop 1- "designed to be useful or practical rather than attractive".
@aaaaaa_ My view on GURPS is different from yours. To me, GURPS feels less like a game mechanic and more like an effort to simulate reality. Of course, each module (supplement) of GURPS expresses a processed reality based on each genre. This aspect of GURPS feels like a desire to make games to me. But at the same time, I still feel GURPS' obsession with generality in each module. Each module shows us some expression of a desire to encompass each genre. :)
@hyaniner in practice this resulted in cut-down versions ( same is necessary for CRPG) one example was the LoTR (MERP) p&p we played it a lot (also lot of cheating literally 00 rolls for characters and ad-hoc TROLL brain surgeries by hobbit armed with sling-shot so much about reality😆). The MERP artifact/unique book inspired me for a good while still have an idea (MERP 8006 - Treasures of Middle Earth).
@hyaniner MERP is also nice I should read some modules if it's adaptable ( godlike -> corporation etc.🤣)
@aaaaaa_ I had no knowledge of Middle-earth Role Playing. Now it's time to sleep for me, so when I wake up, I will search about it. :D
@hyaniner MERP treasure book makes a point about how that stuff has its own "life".. It's funnier with "AI" talk abound, raising interesting case for adaptability. Again this is waaaay higher lvl stuff than encountered in CRPG ...
@aaaaaa_ That sounds very interesting to me!
@hyaniner there are some Gundam 0083 Stardust Memory card games with space pirate Cima no less 🤩
...
Saw something in western p&p that's fascinating?

@aaaaaa_ I'm sorry about it. I couldn't because I was so busy.

What I saw in days:

The tool I'm making has finally entered the early step for doing basic searches.

Myself used two days to find UObjectBaseUtility::GetOutermostObject().

@aaaaaa_ I should listen to the Men of destiny. It seems that I'm exhausted.
