Even today's news about Taiwan plays into my approach. Trump wants Taiwan to pay up for protection. Remind you of anything?

@TimMaddog I'm not saying Taiwan is freeloading. Trump is saying they should pay more for US protection. It is a fact that he said that.
@eleog
What #Donald_Trump said was that #Taiwan 🇳🇫 is NOT paying. That's a big #LIE. Taiwan pays the #US 🇺🇸 BILLIONS for its defensive weapons. (More than US$14 billion under the #Trump administration alone.) By not stating that it was a false claim, you are supporting his lie.

@TimMaddog You are missing the point and flogging your loyalty to Taiwan at the expense of it. Under Biden the USA would continue to suport Taiwan and to have its weapons companies get paid for their products. What Trump is telling Taiwan is that they need to pay the USA for supporting them. In the history of US organized crime that's called a "protection racket". Trump is a wannabe mob boss. By missing that point you are not helping Taiwan, which will surely suffer if Trump get elected.
@eleog
Again: By not stating that #Trump's #claim was #false, you are supporting his #lie. Nobody reading your post would get your so-called "point."
@TimMaddog Who does Taiwan pay? Is it the nation of the USA paid to have a policy of protecting Taiwan, or do they pay companies for their products?
@eleog
#Taiwan 🇳🇫 doesn't pay for the "policy" — they pay for the #weapons. They pay the #US_government 🇺🇸 (Dept. of Defense) for those weapons As for the policy: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taiwan_Relations_Act#
Taiwan Relations Act - Wikipedia

@TimMaddog This is what you are missing. Trump wants Taiwan to pay the US for the policy.

Nobody is suggesting that they don't pay for the weapons except you by denying it.

@eleog
Did you miss the part about "[#Taiwan 🇳🇫] doesn't give us *anything*"? 🤷🏽‍♂️

@TimMaddog No, I didn't miss that, but I understood what he meant. We don't get paid for our policy of protecting Taiwan and our commitment to come to their aid if attacked.

Why don't you ask Trump if he meant that Taiwan gets all its weapons for free?

@TimMaddog

Trump:
“I think Taiwan should pay us for defense,” Mr. Trump said in an interview with Bloomberg Businessweek that published on Tuesday. “You know, we’re no different than an insurance company.”

Is this getting through? #Trump wants #Taiwan to pay for the policy. Y'know, like for an insurance policy. That's very different from paying for weapons.

@eleog

Nice country you've got there. Be a shame if something happened to it...
