Russia was a huge factor, as well as Jill Stein (also Russia,) the electoral college not doing their job, extreme right wing gerrymandering and voter suppression.

And if it were someone other than her running against Trump, they probably would have won. This idea that progressives can't win is absolute bullshit. Nothing to do with ego. It's a precarious trade-off of momentum. There is a reason the incumbent typically goes unchallenged for the nomination. Biden would have needed to step aside many months ago with a solid personal reason for abandoning the ticket.
