inspired by @hk I have decided to play a DS game today, and I picked #RadiantHistoria off the shelf. I have played though this before, got right to the end and then shamefully never finished it. so I've wiped my save from the cart and started again

feels good to be playing on the DS, I'm torn between the DSi XL or the OLED Switch for my favorite console of all time, and I really can't decide

#NintendoDS

the music in this game is so good, I got the manual out of the box to look up the credits, and yeah... that'll be why

just how good is Radiant Historia. I've forgotten most of the plot, but am remembering more as I go on. this game is so clever and mechanically brilliant, the way you can jump around the timelines completing quests and manipulating events. just genius

one of the very best DS games without a doubt

@COMPU73E I feel like this gem went so under the radar with bad launch timing twice. Original global launch right at the end of the DS lifecycle and then a 3DS remaster with extra story etc right as the switch launched  Great game with great music tho, really wanna go back and play through the whole thing someday.
@COMPU73E From searching my own tumblr, I actually 100%ed this game twice in the DS version and again in the 3DS remake so obviously I agree. I wasn't impressed with the 3DS remake and its additional content so I don't think you're missing anything there really.
@anarchaeopteryx thanks! I don't really know what they added for the Perfect Chronology version, but the prices it goes for these days always put me off. I find it hard to think what they would actually need to improve from the DS version
@COMPU73E According to Past Me, they added a few new little story nodes that had poor writing, gave Eruka long hair, changed the UI a bit, and added a battle mechanic and some side quests. Also a couple new difficulty levels. Definitely not worth it for today's prices.
@COMPU73E i tried out the 3DS rerelease and enjoyed it, but (like you) never finished it. i remember it had a unique combat system and (maybe) some time travel / redo history aspects that were compelling (similar to Tactics Ogre from that respect.)
@COMPU73E What a great game! I played it on DS and then the 3DS re-release.
@COMPU73E @hk Not gonna lie, I would try out this game for the cover alone.

I am team 3DS all the way BTW xD
@COMPU73E radiant historia!! I adore this game, it was such a blast and I totally agree that the music is fantastic. I played the remake a few years back as well and it had some fun new additions but I'm still super attached to the original! Have fun with it :D

@quietaria it really is good! I've thought about getting Perfect Chronology but the prices the CIB cart goes for these days, I think I'll stick with the DS original...

I'm remembering a few things from when I've played it before, but have forgotten most of it!

@COMPU73E I was really lucky and managed to buy the 3ds version at market value shortly after it released but I shudder to think of the prices now :')

The first mostly blind (except for getting the more esoteric endings- and some of those were wild lmao) playthrough I did was super enjoyable so in a way it's kind of awesome that you've forgotten some of it since you'll get to experience it anew again :D
