The effects from climate change are harming many populations, but there's one group of animals that is thriving: cephalopods. This is an amazing story about the resilience of octopuses, squid, and cuttlefish. I am ready for octo-world! https://www.mbl.edu/news/what-can-cephalopods-teach-us-about-adapting-climate-change

@annaleen So long, and thanks for all the fish
@annaleen Admiral Akbar says (sorry, I could not resist):

@annaleen
The revolution begins.

**plays La Marseillaise**

@annaleen I would be very happy if cephalopods would PLEASE take over control of this planet. They have many more skills, and are likely much smarter, than humans.

@annaleen Their cousins, the nautiloids, aren't doing so hot though.

Twilight of the Nautilus

What the scientist who has studied the iconic sea creature for 45 years now sees.

Nautilus
@drgroftehauge Any creature with a shell is suffering. So are many other life forms. I get that.
@annaleen I wasn't trying to do a whataboutism. I just thought it was interesting to look at a contrast to a relative that was doing poorly.
- high value catch
- slow rate of maturation
- shells which are harder to make in a less alkaline ocean
- dependency on coral reef
