OK, after episode 1 (I love kid Fan Xian), I had to slog a bit through the next few episodes of the #cdrama #JoyOfLife (I found that assassin dude and his backstory annoying), but after episode 5, I'm hooked.
Currently shipping the second prince and Fan Xian. 😍
I like how Fan Ruoruo is feminine and soft-spoken but still intelligent and curious and treated highly by Fan Xian. Strong women can be soft, quiet, and feminine, too!
At episode 18 of the #cdrama #JoyOfLife and all I can do is chant:
Un! Cle! Wu! Zhu! Un! Cle! Wu! Zhu!
That battle was bad-ass.

I love the silliness of these guys who all studied poisons. All willing to suffer for their craft, but as total goofs the whole time! 😆

I love this smarmy lifetime politician smile the Crown Prince wears as he walks both the First Prince and Fan Xian into the capital city, arm in arm in arm. LMFAOOOOOOO
CP seemed so trembly and anxious in season 1. I appreciate him more in this season.
Fan Xian seems... more on edge in this season. With a chip on his shoulder and a nasty streak.
I'm still kinda upset he hasn't gone to see Wan'er yet.
OMG I almost choked laughing so hard when, just after the Second Prince offers Ruoruo up for marriage, the Emperor turns to him and says, "Since you like joyous events so much, I'll grant you a marriage, too."
LMFAOOOOOOO the absolute CRUELTY these guys show to each other around the family table, not even remotely obscured by their polite language. 😂 And the Crown Prince is frozen, worried he'll get pulled into the unwanted marriage crossfire! 😂
I have cackled no fewer than three times in this episode so far.
* The sharpening of her axe.
* The wheelchair flying at Second Prince's head.
* "Oops, my hand slipped." - Fan Xian after flinging the wheelchair at Second Prince's head.
* Wang Qinian giving the wrong name to First Prince.
* "Deng Ziyue? Was that your name before this?" - First Prince to Wang Qinian 😂
* Wang Qinian repeating his fake name at least 3 times to First Prince
This rough-and-tumble First Prince coming back from fighting at the front lines for years falling adorably in love with this Northern Qi Princess who has such big, innocent eyes and quietly, meekly, yet fiercely, wants to represent her country well?

First Prince and Northern Qi Princess are both well-meaning but have no practical knowledge of their current environment.
Wan'er is proving why Fan Xian is in love with her. She understands everything Second Prince is trying to do. "Next time, leave your plots and motives at home." 💀🔥
My comment stands, though, that the Fan Xian of this season has a nasty streak. Angry and vindictive. I'm not sure I like it. Or that Wan'er will.

The Eldest Princess really has to make everything about her, doesn't she. I think I held my breath the entire time she was assisting Wan'er with her makeup and hair, fully expecting poison or stabbing. And Wan'er somehow finding something to smile about after that encounter. *shudder*
I think the Second Prince is actually excited to have a spouse. Someone who is close to him on purpose. That he might be allowed to trust.
I never thought that the super weapon Fan Xian's mom left him would be specifically to take Uncle Wu Zhu down. 😳 But it definitely adds weight to my suspicion that Wu Zhu is some kind of robot!
I love Ruoruo! Courage, intelligence, and beauty are all traits she has. And a strive for personal excellence, which I admire.
