A reminder that anyone can sue anyone else for any amount of money.

The amount requested in lawsuit filings like this is PR. It's designed to get journalists to publish wildly big numbers to sensationalize the case even more.

And it usually works, because journalists routinely do PR for plaintiffs, by not thinking about what they're doing.

The Verge -- and other media organizations -- should know better than to do this.

Especially egregious given the wildly inflated damages record labels routinely ask for in these cases. In a just world, $150k per infringement would get their lawyers disbarred
