True story...

So, a local #library (in a rural area) I used to work for decided to just eliminate their #DVDs a few years back. "Oh, all the patrons have #streaming now," the director said. "Um, then why do a lot of our patrons use our computers and regularly take out DVDs?" I replied, after taking a look at the library statistics. I ended up "adopting" a lot of the DVDs, and now that there's a new director, I'm thinking I might donate my collection (which is quite extensive, since I've added to it) back to them, and start volunteering there again.

Your post reminds me that I was going to pack up my old DVD player and its cables and donate it to my hometown rural library, which still has lots of DVDs to lend out. I just need to check if modern TVs have matching "component" ports.... If people check out a DVD and a DVD player but can't connect it to their TV/projector, that wouldn't be ideal.

@kdnyhan Also, I just picked up a cheap portable DVD player that works great, and has both red, yellow, white and hdmi inputs. I'm thinking I might purchase another one and donate it to the local library for others to use. Thanks for the inspiration!
