Donald Trump rally shooting being probed as assassination attempt: AP sources
Hmm.
4:21 PM PT – A SOURCE WHO HAS SPOKEN WITH A MEMBER OF THE SECRET SERVICE TELL TMZ, TRUMP WAS NOT HIT BY A BULLET. RATHER, A BULLET HIT HIS TELEPROMPTER AND THE GLASS STRUCK HIM BY THE EAR.

According to CBS, Trump apparently posted that his ear was hit by a bullet, but I suppose that he might also not have known what hit him:

The presumptive Republican nominee said he heard “a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin.” It’s not yet clear whether Trump was hit by a bullet or shrapnel, but blood was strewn across his ear and face as Secret Service agents ushered him offstage.
“I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania,” Trump wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social. “Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
Back when Reagan was shot, he didn’t even think that he’d been shot, was ticked off at the Secret Service guy who threw him into the car, thought that the guy had broken one of his ribs.
EDIT: Though Teddy Roosevelt knew:

Schrank did shoot Roosevelt, but the bullet lodged in Roosevelt’s chest only after hitting both his steel eyeglass case and a 50-page copy of his speech titled “Progressive Cause Greater Than Any Individual”, which he was carrying in his jacket pocket. As onlookers gasped and screamed, Elbert E. Martin, one of Roosevelt’s secretaries and an ex-football player, was the first to react, leaping at Schrank, wrestling him to the ground and seizing his gun.[8] A. O. Girard, a former Rough Rider and bodyguard of the ex-president, and several policemen were upon Schrank at the same moment. Roosevelt stumbled, but straightened himself, and again raised his hat, with a reassuring smile upon his face. His aide, Harry Cochems, asked Roosevelt if he was hit, and Roosevelt simply said assuredly, “He pinked me, Harry.”[9]
Roosevelt, as an experienced hunter and anatomist, correctly concluded that since he was not coughing blood, the bullet had not reached his lung, and he declined suggestions to go to the hospital immediately. Instead, he delivered his scheduled speech with blood seeping into his shirt.[11][12] He spoke for 50 minutes before completing his speech and accepting medical attention. His opening comments to the gathered crowd were, “Ladies and gentlemen, I don’t know whether you fully understand that I have just been shot, but it takes more than that to kill a Bull Moose.”[13][14][15]
"I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin," former President Trump wrote.
Trump took a bullet to the ear.
He did?
What kind of a road do you think we’re on right now?
Imagine no more assassination attempts.
Trump wins.
Project 2025 is enacted.
Jews, Hispanics and LGBTQs are rounded up and thrown in concentration camps.
The signs are there. Are you going to still be sitting on a high horse right up until the moment it happens? What then, you turn around and stave off the fourth Reich with whoever’s left?
Will you be happy then?
It’s not even about the moral issue, although I think murdering your political opponents is wrong. Just think it through practically. Killing Trump doesn’t stop project 2025. There’s going to be quite a few names on that list if you want to solve this situation through violence.
You have a process to prevent this from happening right now, the same one that prevented it last time. Ironically this attempt will likely just make things worse assuming there is no retaliatory violence from the other side.
The whole situation is super fucked up either way. I wish you all the best for your country, it seems like it’s going to be pretty bad for a while at least.
I think he should be prosecuted for his crimes too, but look around, that’s not what’s happening.
If the government cannot provide justice, the people will in their own ways.
I fear the path we’re on as a nation and world, and i don’t see an offramp currently. I cope by preparing for instability, not by denying the current situation. We live in interesting times.
I’m not advocating for it specifically because of what you laid out.
But I assume they would want people to act on evidence, whether that’s in a courtroom or vigilante justice. So their logic would say, no they shouldn’t. But yes, that’s what it would lead to.
There were absolutely guns.

They did also find a stockpile of guns a distance away. Both are true.
I’m not advocating for it. But Trump has, repeatedly. Again and again. I have no fucks to give and I do not find it gross. He advocated for Hillary to be assassinated, wanted to shoot protesters, and still considers Ashli Babbitt a hero.
I don’t find it gross when people want pedophiles to get the death penalty, even if I disagree with the government having that sort of power. I’m not going to condemn people who are happy with the shooter, even though I don’t support the actions.
We don’t know why the shooter tried to shoot Trump. We also know that this will role up his base. And the shooter failed at what he was trying to do.
That doesn’t sound like a hero.
Dude was probably messed up in the head. If we call this attempted assassin a hero, that might inspire copycat crimes of people trying to shoot public figures they disagree with. I know there’s that second amendment and all, but is that really how you want the country to function?
I already said I don’t support the action. And that’s exactly why. But I’m not going to dismiss people’s feelings on the matter.
In the same way I don’t support the death penalty. But I’m not going to deny that people feel catharsis when a pedophile or a murderer is executed.
I’m not calling the shooter a hero. And I’m not going to advocate for violence because I don’t want to normalize that. But I’m also not going to call it gross. The ONLY reason I think it’s bad is because of the fallout.
Trump has openly advocated for this for the last 8 years, but for his adversaries. He still treats Ashli Babbitt as a martyr. He wanted to shoot peaceful protesters. Etc, etc, etc. I think anyone with an ounce of sympathy with that sack of crap is gross.
I don’t find it gross that murderers and rapists are given the death penalty. But I don’t advocate for government to have that power either.

Westheimer joined the Haganah Jewish Zionist underground paramilitary organization (later, the Israel Defense Forces) in Jerusalem.[26][27][25][28] Because of her diminutive height of 4 feet 7 inches (140 cm), she was trained as a scout and sniper.[24][28][29] Of this experience, she said, “I never killed anybody, but I know how to throw hand grenades and shoot.”[30] She became an ace sniper, and learned to assemble a rifle in the dark.[24][14] When she was 90 years old, she demonstrated that she was still able to put together a Sten gun with her eyes closed.[31]
