Passed by lake Baldeney today and obviously had to stop and take some photographs. Completely forgot to mentioned it here: A couple of days ago, this turned into the second longest streak of daily posting. 😱 I had to update the code, that calculates the stats a little, to take the current streak into account.

Some days (well, probably most days) I do not really know what to write about down here below the image. That's probably why I chose to primarily share photographs! They not always speak for themselves, but they don't need to either. There is not always a story attached to them. Sometimes something just catches my eye, and then I take a photograph. That's it.

We have to pass exactly four traffic lights on our way to kindergarten. I optimized the route over the years to avoid traffic lights as much as possible, because all of them are switched in a way, that is pretty pedestrian/cyclist hostile and all in favor of cars. And I hate waiting.

Meet Taco. We – well, Ulya and the girls – looked after him for a friend today. I think the idea of what it means to own and care for a dog, has become a lot clearer for my daughters. (No, we won't get a dog.)

Earlier today we visited La Pista 500, which is an old test track, built on top of Lingotto, which was once a car factory operated by Fiat – and is currenlty the location for this years’ WordCamp Europe. The traditional round tables at Contributer Day reminded me of my very first one in Leiden in 2013. I am sure somebody can give me the exact numbers, but it feels like there were more people here today contributing, than there were attendees in total at WordCamp Europe 2013. It is a very different event compared to back then.

Had a lot of interesting conversations today at the first day of WordCamp Europe. Now I am so very exhausted and need to recharge. I didn't take many images, which I think is good. We set ourselves a goal to get some input on our plugin business, and that's what we did – and will be doing tomorrow. So not having time or the mind set for photographing is a good thing in this case. 😊

Another great day at #WCEU. Many insightful conversations made me feel like this time around I really got much more out of the event than in previous years, because I actually set some goals for myself. Anyways – photo-wise today was all over the place. But it turns out that I like a couple of portraits I took the most. I am quite happy how they turned out. So I guess, thank you Luca (on the right), for coaxing me into trying something, I usually don't do. 😊 (I'll probably post some event documentation type photos tomorrow.)

As promised here are a couple of impression from WordCamp Europe 2024. I shot pretty randomly across the three days of the conference, so this is not as concise as you might be used to. I had a great time, looking forward to visiting Basel next year.

Made it back home! I was quicker than my luggage, though, most likely because I had only 10 minutes between connecting flights in Munich. It will – hopefully – arrive later today. Lufthansa's process in this case is fortunately very transparent. (Fingers crossed they don't botch it on the last stretch.) I had a couple of hours yesterday to check out some of Turin's landmarks. Love the photographer's stance in the first image!

Had this beautiful little camera in a drawer for a couple of months now, and loaded it up for the first time today. Just felt like using it and took a couple of images of my daughters outside. It is super light weight, and while I much prefer the Leica's focus patch (probably because I am so used to it), the Olympus OM-1's microprism focusing screen works quite well. At least I hope so. It will take some time until I have the results.

A couple of weeks ago, I found a (tiny) wasp nest under the roof in the attic (where we usually hang our laundry to dry). After asking a friend who is a bee keeper (and knowledgable about this stuff), we made sure the nest was abandoned, then took it down this morning. We carefully cut it open to let the kids take a look inside. It has a beautiful structure and is amazingly light weight.

Jacobaea vulgaris, growing by the wayside. I pass this particular plant every day on my way to the office, and by now it is almost as tall as I am. My wife just told me that it is poisonous and sometimes mistaken for Hypericum, which is considered a medical plant. There you go!

The owners changed the name of the dog to „Tiny“, which I do not find as original as the… well… original name of „Anne-Gret“. But hey. The kids really enjoy their time with her, no matter what her name is. In other news, Daniel is currently having a great run with his monthly photo journal entries. We met in person for the first time last year at beyond tellerrand in Düsseldorf, so there is two photos of me in his most recent post. Thanks, Daniel!

Very slow day today. (Which was good!) Suvi and I headed to the backyard for a while, where she practiced some tricks on the trampoline. Almost forgot: This already marks the halfway point for the 366 project, which I started on January 1st. Feels like yesterday!
