yeah so microsoft just fucking lied about not forcing copilot, cos of course they did https://www.tomshardware.com/software/windows/windows-10-gets-copilot-as-part-of-mandatory-update
Windows 10 gets Copilot as part of mandatory update — turns AI widget into a full-fledged app on the taskbar

Microsoft is turning Copilot from a widget into an app.

@davidgerard I had to switch to Mac because I needed Logic Pro. I've second-guessed that decision from time to time, but at this point even with Apple being control freaks, it's still easier to get a Mac to do the things I want with how much garbage Microsoft is forcing on people.

I would go whole hog and switch to Linux, but unfortunately I need some software that won't run on it

@reillypascal @davidgerard you'd be surprised what software runs on Linux these days...
@mlabowicz @reillypascal yeah and sometimes what software doesn't. e.g. office 365 full version is still a blocker for the kid. (yes they actually prefer LO, but sometimes they really do require O365.) they're very pleased games aren't gonna be a blocker tho.

@davidgerard @mlabowicz @reillypascal

What do they need MS Office for, if you don't mind the question?

EDIT: No suggestions incoming, just wondering what schools are demanding these days.

@caffetiel @mlabowicz @reillypascal yeah, school, the ICT course goes from Python coding to extreme O365 and is very specific on the full version of O365. but yes even the teacher recommends LO for real work lol

trouble is O365 seems to be the sticking point cos it doesn't run in Wine well enough
